Similarly Jews adopt various ways that Jews can express their identity. Symbols used by Jews to express their Identity Symbols are used within religions to point or explain things more clearly. They have a deeper meaning and often displaced in places of worship or in the home and can be used as a focus during prayers. The Mezuzah The mezuzah, as per biblical commandments is found on the doorposts of many Jewish homes. It is placed on the right doorposts of every door in the home except bathroom. The mezuzahhanging is a piece of parchment scroll on which shema prayer is inscribed and kept in a small case. The shema prayer has a great significance as it contains the words describing god-asking jews to remember his commandments in their heads and hearts both. The mezuzah doorposts act as a constant reminder of God’s presence. The Magen David This is the most popular symbol associated with Judaism and is commonly referred to as the star of the David. It is in the shape of a hexagram made up of two equilateral triangles. It is believed to be a fairly modern symbol.
