  3. 装甲兵是以坦克为基本装备，主要遂行地面突击任务的兵种，是陆军的重要突击力量。中国陆军装甲兵自1945年12月成立第一支坦克部队，1950年9月成立装甲兵领导机关以来，由小到大，从弱到强，已由初创时单一的坦克兵发展为以坦克兵为主体、包括自行炮兵、装甲步兵、导弹兵、防空兵、防化兵、侦察兵、通信兵、工兵等诸兵种合成的装甲机械化部队，具有强大突击力和战斗力的高技术兵种。
