Solution Fluency • Senate Simulation- Students, representing U.S. states define a social problem, research the problem using current data gathered from internet sources, and come up with a solution. The next step is get together with fellow classmates to come up with one solution(piece of legislation) and pass it through a debating and voting process.

  3. Information Fluency • Internet Shopping Activity - Leaving Home Activity: With a budget students search internet sites like Google shopping, eBay, craigslist etc. to find the items they will need once they leave home and move into a dorm/apartment/house • Web quests: Could be on a variety of topics and many different kinds of outcomes.

  4. Collaboration Fluency • Google Docs Presentation: Instead of having a pen pal in a faraway classroom, teachers could setup a partner Google Docs presentation on a variety of different topics with students living in different states or countries. - One example would be: students in two countries could do comparative studies of the pollutants in local bodies of water, and hypothesize the reasons for the similarities and differences in the local causes of these pollutants

  5. Creativity Fluency • World Tour Project: Students take a virtual tour to several countries around the world on different continents. Along the way they pick up photos, videos, facts, and music, and incorporate that information into a multimedia presentation using Moviemaker, iMovie, or a similar tool utilizing all of its editing effects to create a personalized Tour of the World.

  6. Media Fluency • Advertisement Assignment: Look at magazine or newspaper advertisement from back in time and compare them to digital advertisement of today. Then create a digital advertisement using a tool like Glogster.

  7. Digital Citizen • Creating a professional website- Students who are Senators of states in a class simulation create senate Website. The Websites must have appropriate and professional material. The class explores other senate pages, and the teachers covers the difference between appropriate and inappropriate material for their websites.
