MattPevarnik, anaccountexecutiveforAlstomwhoservesonEcotechInstitute’sadvisory board,spearheadedthe donation. “What’sincredibleaboutthisdonationisnowourstudentswill have hands-ontrainingwiththe sameequipmentthey’llencounterintheircareerswhentheygraduatefromEcotechInstitute,”saidShawnLamb,EcotechInstitute’sWindEnergyTechnology ProgramDirector.“Thisequipmentcombinedwith our20-tongearbox,whichWinergydonatedlastyear,gives ourstudentstrainingveryfewpeoplewill havebeforeenteringtheirprofession.” StudentsinEcotech’sWindEnergyandPowerUtilitydegree programswill use thegenerator, along withthegearbox,formechanical training andto practiceinspectionsandteststhatare partof a windturbine’spreventativemaintenanceprogram.
