This study investigates the dynamics of wheelchair safety during transport in large accessible transit vehicles (LATVs). An incident was analyzed where a power wheelchair passenger was ejected during what appeared to be a routine braking maneuver. The passenger was subsequently struck by the LATV bulkhead and fell to the aisle floor. The research aims to highlight wheelchair instability issues in transit environments and suggests measures to improve safety and securement for wheelchair users, ultimately enhancing their transportation experience in public transit systems.

During ejection, (1) wheelchair passenger struck large accessible transit vehicle (LATV) bulkhead directly in front of right securement station, and (2) then fell to aisle floor (case 3).
