  2. CONFISCATORS • To seize by or as if by authority. • The confiscators came to my house and took everything we owned.

  3. Dignity • Nobility or elevation of character; worthiness • The immigrant had a lot of dignity because he earned everything has.

  4. SInister • Threatening or portending evil, harm, or trouble. • When I met the sinister man I knew he was nothing but trouble.

  5. futile • Trifling; frivolous; unimportant • The men had so much power I knew resistance was futile.

  6. fruitless • Useless; unproductive; without success. • The fishing trip was fruitless and we had to buy dinner.

  7. internment • The state of being interned; confined • The Japanese were sent to internment camps.

  8. hostility • A hostile state; condition; or attitude; enmity; antagonism. • The soldiers showed much hostility in the movie.

  9. Subordinate • Placing in or belonging to a lower rank or group. • Everyone else is subordinate compared to the Queen of England.

  10. Aggravate • To annoy; irritate; or exasperate. • All of the phone companies are starting to aggravate me.

  11. intangible • Incapable of being perceived by the sense of touch. • Air is an example of an intangible object.

  12. promenade • A stroll or walk, especially in a public place, for pleasure or display. • I took a nice promenade in Florida and it was beautiful.

  13. Pacify • To bring or restore a state of peace. • Babies use teddy bears to pacify themselves.

  14. oblivion • The state of being forgotten or unknown. • Some people make me feel that I am in oblivion.

  15. sustenance • Nourishment. • After football practice I had to have a lot of sustenance.

  16. subdued • Quiet; inhabited; repressed. • Some people think they are being subdued even if I just touch them.

  17. lethargy • The state of being drowsy or dull. • Sometimes I think that school is a bunch of lethargy.

  18. assented • To agree. • I Just assented that summer should be longer.

  19. capitulate • To surrender unconditionally. • According to this German poster the Nazis will never capitulate.

  20. assertive • Confidently aggressive or self assured. • Sometimes adults can be very assertive.

  21. authentic • Not false or copied; genuine. • No matter what getting the authentic version is better than the copied version.
