My Vision for the College • A transformed CEES into a leading academic and professional institution in the preparing of teachers, education practitioners, adult education providers, community workers and providers of open, distance and e learning; • Excelled in research and in knowledge transfer and partnership relevant to CEES and responsive to national and global needs.

  3. Challenges affecting the college • Big in Size and Structure – operates with almost the entire university • Run like previous faculties – process of formation of CEES ongoing • The 3 schools in the college operate independently because of their uniqueness particularly in what they offer: esp. School of Education and the School of Distance and Lifelong learning. • The Role of the Centers for Lifelong learning and Centers for Teaching and learning support needs to be streamlined • Teamwork – ability to write joint projects, papers, teaching within CEES • Management of resources i.e staff, students and funds • Lack of information sharing • Dissemination of information especially research by graduate students and projects results by Lecturers. • Poor outreach programmes - Linkages

  4. The School of Distance and Lifelong learning • This is a unique school whose work runs in two departments • Department of Open and Distance Learning • Department of Adult and continuing education • This school is the gold / diamond mine of this university – shd be the hub of education. • Has capacity to offer more programmes than it is currently • Has opportunity to offer many programmes at Longlife education centers throughout Uganda • Look at where it is?

  5. East African School of Higher Education • Another unique school in the College: specifically deals with Higher Education • Has opportunity for serious research and linkages with other education institutions • Can develop more attractive programmes and research in higher education in the region i.e • Masters of Education Management at local governments, MTET, M. University admin, etc • Requires Needs assessment – Higher Education (could be a collective effort of CEES).

  6. School of Education • Should take the lead in Training teachers in Uganda • Can have more programmes running in evening and weekends • Opportunity for bridging courses – A level • Linkages with other stakeholders in Education e.g MoES, UNEB, UNCD, ESA, • Dissemination of Research findings through conferences • Resource mobilisation – Consultancies at SoE • Public education Debates – issue statements e.g

  7. Managerial abilities • I have previously coordinated research programmes successfully and disseminated results through a number of publications. • Have networking researchers of various disciplines locally and regionally • Have capacity to conduct writing clinics • The Teamwork at DSTVE can be extended to the entire college

Academic leadership Abilities • Biology Education Programme Coordinator 2004 – 2010. • Successful last Deputy Dean School of Education 2010. • Chair – DSTVE 2011 – 2013. • Supervised Graduate and Undergraduate research. • Zone leader School Practice. • Represented School of Education at Senate • External examiner • Restructuring of Programmes SoE, DSTVE

Academic leadership Abilities • Strengthen visibility of the college through publications and • Writing clinics in all disciplines of the college • New Programmes. • Conferences and research findings dissemination. • Innovations and creativity. • Linkages with key education stakeholders. • Confidence and public relations. • Quality assurance – through work plans. • Consultation, delegation, accountability, transparency, communication, and provision of feedback to students, lecturers and public • Contribute to public debate

The College needs • Intra and inter activities that promote team play. • Focused leadership to bring out the uniqueness of the schools without loosing the connectivity • Empowerment of Deans/Chairs especially in managing resources • Promote initiatives by department and individuals • Planning and focused implementation of strategic initiatives • Shared CEES vision

Resource mobilisation and utilisation ability • So far AfDB renovation of Science Labs • NOHERD with University of Juba • University of Bergen – One Staff on PhD in Chemistry Education • Physical Education – Ministry of Education will to support training of 100 P.E teachers every year & gymnasium • Support from Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia • Programmes in the University at the SoE, Distance Education, Centers • JICA • Open University UK – Support to TESSA materials development. • There is potential for Bidding for Educational Consultancies

Community service • Rotarian – Past President & Tresurer Rotary club of Seeta • Member – Lugazi Diocese Education Board • Member Lugazi Diocese Financial Board • Chairman School Management Committee St Peter Claver Namiryango P.S • V Chairman SMC St Theresa Namiryango • Member BoG Mt St Mary’s Namagunga • Member BoG St Joseph’s High School Namagunga • Member SMC Namiryango Junior Boys School • Serve on many church and rotary projects • Patron Premier Development Association SACCO. • Vice Chairman Technical Committee on Environment • Director of a Secondary School etc etc etc…..
