  11. What the Qur’an says about the Injeel Qur’an 3:2-3 Allah! there is no god but He the Living the Self-Subsisting Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down Law (Of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus).

  12. God sent the Tawrat • It was changed • God sent the Zabur • It was changed • God sent the Injeel • It was changed • God sent the Qur’an • God keeps his word Authenticity of the Injeel

  13. Authenticity of the Injeel Islamic leaders (Imams) teach: • The Injeel has gone through many versions and the real meaning has been lost. • Christians have changed many stories and deleted any references to Islam and Muhammad.

  14. Authenticity of the Injeel 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  15. Authenticity of the Injeel CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE: • God inspired the writing of the Injeel. • God will keep His Word to enlighten and judge the human race. • The many versions are merely translations with the same message. • Interested individuals may learn Koine Greek and study the Injeel in the originallanguage.

  16. Authenticity of the Injeel Respond on three levels • Theological • Logical • Historical Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

  17. Authenticity of the Injeel • Theological • When Muslims say that the Bible has been corrupted, respond with “AstaghfurAllah!” (God forbid!). • Ask “who is stronger, God or humans?” • If a person believes that the Injeel is corrupted, then he or she believes that humans are stronger than God.

  18. What does the Qur’an say about the Injeel? Qur’an 3:2-3 Allah! there is no god but He the Living the Self-Subsisting Eternal. It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down Law (Of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus).

  19. What does the Qur’an say about the Injeel? Qur’an 2:136 Say ye: "We believe in Allah and the revelation given to us and to Abraham Isma`il Isaac Jacob and the Tribes and that given to Moses and Jesus and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord we make no difference between one and another of them and we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

  20. What does the Qur’an say about the Injeel? Qur’an 57:27 Then in their wake We followed them up with (others of) Our apostles: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy.

  21. What does the Qur’an say about the Injeel? Qur’an 5:47 Let the people of the Gospel Judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed they are (no better than) those who rebel.

  22. What does the Qur’an say about the Injeel? Qur’an 5:68 Say: “O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law the Gospel and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.”

  23. Authenticity of the Injeel • Logical These questions must be answered: • Who corrupted the Injeel? • Why was the Injeel corrupted? • Where was the Injeel corrupted? • When was the Injeel corrupted? • Where is the original Injeel? • What parts of the Injeel were corrupted? • Was the Injeel corrupted before or after the life of Muhammad?

  24. a. EyewitnessStage • b. Persecution Stage • c. Translation Stage Authenticity of the Injeel • Historical Overview • Eyewitness Stage (AD 1-100) • The Persecution Stage (AD 100-325) • The Translation Stage (AD 325-present)

  25. Authenticity of the Injeel • The Eyewitness Stage (AD 1-100) • AD 33 Jesus Christ of Nazareth was crucified and raised from the dead. • AD 100 There are no living eyewitnessesof the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus. • During this stage, the Injeel was written on papyri in the language of Koine Greek. • These are the days of the Injeel, the disciples, and of Matthew 28:11-15 and Acts 2:1-4

  26. Authenticity of the Injeel • The Persecution Stage (AD 100-325) • The Romans decreed to martyr Christians and burn their books • Partial Manuscripts are found • Writings/letters of church fathers • Lectionaries • Early Translations

  27. Authenticity of the Injeel • The Translation Stage (AD 325-pressent) • AD 325 Codex Sinaiticus • AD 350 Codex Vaticanus • AD 400 Codex Alexandrines

  28. Codex Sinaiticus

  29. Authenticity of the Injeel • All present day translations go to the Greek manuscripts. The message is one and the meaning is thesame. • There are manuscripts available prior to Muhammad’s birth in 570 AD. Muhammad instructed Muslims to believe, and therefore read, the Injeel as part of following Islam.

  30. Tools for reaching Muslims: • Salvation through Grace

  31. Tools for Reaching Muslims After this session you will be able to • Understand why Muslims think grace is a ticket for immorality • Share how Jesus did not lose by dying • Explain how Christ became the true Adha (sacrifice)

  32. Salvation by Grace Typical comments from Muslims: • “Why did Jesus have to die?” • “Since Jesus is a prophet, how can he lose by dying?” • “There is no need for sacrifice, aren’t we saved through good works? Christians are lazy and don’t take care of their sins. Good Muslims take ownership for their sins and work to take care of them.”

  33. Salvation by Grace Qur’an 7:8-9 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper; Those whose scale will be light, will be their souls in perdition, for they have wrongfully treated Our sings.

  34. Salvation by Grace COMMON MUSLIM UNDERSTANDING: • Christians are lazy and morally loose. They sin and Jesus just keeps forgiving. • Christianity is illogical in punishing Jesus for the sins of others. • Muslims pride themselves in righteous acts which will erase sins on Judgment Day.

  35. Salvation by Grace Religious leaders teach • God is a just judge. He is a great business man; you cannot steal from him. • God punishes each according to his/her sins, and punishing Jesus for others is not just. • Life is a test and on Judgment Day, your individual goodworks will get you into paradise.

  36. Salvation by Grace CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE Ephesians 2:8-9 • For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no man can boast. Acts 4:12 • Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

  37. Salvation by Grace CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVE • God is Holy and all humans are sinful. No one is righteous in the sight of God. • All humans have already failed the righteousness test. • God is a just judge. A sinner cannot redeem another sinner. • Jesus Christ was sinless from birth. He conquered sin, death, and Satan, and therefore can intercede for humanity. • Jesus is the true Adha sacrifice. He paid the debt we owe to God. • Forgiveness can be experienced when we come to God through the redemption of Christ.

  38. Salvation by Grace APPROACH • Ask: “What if the scale on Judgment Day 50/50?” • Share that all of us need a redeemer to save us from the penalty and power of sin. Introduce concept of grace. • Share the Adha booklet to explain our need for a Savior and demonstrate that Jesus is the perfect Adha sacrifice.

  39. Salvation by Grace Share about God’s character: • God is Love (Al Wadud – The Affectionate) • God is Holy (Al Qudoos – The Holy One) • God is Just (Al Adil – The Just) • God is Merciful (Al Raheem – The Merciful) • God is Forgiving (Al Ghafoor – The Forgiver)

  40. Salvation by Grace Christ the Eternal Sacrifice • Christ is unique in His birth • Christ is sinless • Christ performed miracles • Christ redeemed the whole universe • Christ rose from the dead conquering sin, death, and Satan • Christ became the true Adha

  41. Salvation by Grace POINT OF DECISION • Repent (Toub): Repentance is turning away from sin and focusing on God. • Confess or Testify (Ish-had): Confess that Jesus is your only Savior from the penalty and power of sin.

  42. Salvation by Grace Muslim: “I hope the mercy of God will tip the scale of the good” Christian John 1:17 “For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.”
