When do you report? • 2013 completions are due 30 April 2014 • Completions data must be verified by 15 May 2014
What do you include? • A completion status for each unit of study reported during the year What do you exclude? • Units of study remitted or deleted
Reporting Unit of study completions Two main components: • Key elements - uniquely identify a completions record • Unit of study completion status - attaches a status to a record
Key elements • Student id (E313) • Course code (E307) • Unit of study code (E534) • Unit of study census date (E489)
Unit of study completion status (Element 355) • 2 – Failed • 3 – Successfully completed • 1 – Withdrew without penalty • 4 – In progress • 5 – Recognition of prior learning (VET only)
Reporting Unit of study revisions • Revise your data in the same submission you report your original records • Same key elements to identify a record
Higher education course completions Who do you include?: • all domestic and overseas students who have completed a course of study leading to your award. • Combined degree = 1 completion
VET Course completions Who do you include?: All eligible students who: • have been reported in one or more units of study and • have completed an approved VET course in the reporting year.
Reporting Course completions Two main components: • Key elements - uniquely Identify a completions record • Variation reason code - tells HEIMS what to do with a record
Variation reason code (E446) Reporting a course completion record for the first time: Code 5
Revising Course completions data • You revise your data in the same submission you report your original records • Variation reason code identifies the change you want to make
Variation reason code Revising a course completion record: • Code 2 - revise • Code 4 - delete • Code 5 – new record
