Vilnius is a beautiful city. It is famous for its nature and cultural heritages: monuments, old town, buildings.
Nowadays the number of cars in capital of Lithuania is rapidly increasing. Because of this there are big traffic jams and increased air pollution. In addition, people throw their used old cars in the nature or damps but not in the place it should be left.
Majority of citizens of Vilnius drive old cars that emit a lot of CO2… (Picture taken by the authors)
One of the solutions is development of public transport. Old buses should be replaced by the new ones, modern, comfortable and usable for people with disabilities.
People should not throw their old used cars in the damps but give them to special enterprises that would recycle them.
There are transport means that do not use any energy (except man). Bike paths should be developed and people should be promoted to use bicycles. (Picture taken by the authors)
United Kingdom plans to stop using diesel and petrol cars until 2040.
One English company presented a model – the first motorycle which does not pollute nature at all. Despite the fact that maximum speed of it is 80 km/h, it is enough for enviromentally friendly vehicle. Citizens of Vilnius should also try to achieve this…
Cars that use energy of the sun are being developed in the world but not used very often so far. They are environmentally friendly because they use renewable energy.
Vilnius soon may have a tramway, which does not pollute nature. It uses electrical energy like trolleybuses and is zero gas emission vehicle.
In order to reduce air pollution, it is possible that Lithuania will approve a law which prohibits to use more fuel than is stated (e.g. 10 liters per day) The number of cars coming to Vilnius could be regulated as well.
More and more citizens of Vilnius think about clean and healthy transport. If all of us begin to change, it is possible to see a different transport system in Vilnius!
