  5. Sarah Laughs • Sarah was listening from inside the tent. • She laughed to herself when she heard this because she was 89 years old! • “Why did Sarah just laugh? Is anything too hard for God?” • Yeshua said, “All things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

  6. Sarah’s Reaction • Sarah was afraid. • She couldn’t believe that this person heard her and knew her thoughts. • So she lied and said that she didn’t laugh. • Sarah lied because she was afraid.

  7. Abraham Continues to Trust God • Abraham believed God and trusted that God would keep His promises. • The promise did not come true until Abraham was 100. • Abraham had to wait a long time to see God’s promise. • He tried to do things his way instead of God’s way. • He had a son named Ishmael.

  8. Yitzchak Is Born! • Even when Abraham tried to do things his way, God kept His promise and gave a son to him and Sarah. • They named him Yitzchak (Isaac). • His name means “laughter.”

  9. Abraham Tested • God told Abraham to take his son Yitzchak (Isaac), and go to the mountain in the land of Moriah. • There he was going to kill Yitzchak (Isaac) and offer him as an offering to the LORD • Abraham and his son went up the mountain together. • Yitzchak (Isaac) said to his father, “Father, where is the lamb we need for the sacrifice?” • Abraham answered, “God will give us the lamb for the sacrifice.”

  10. The Binding of Yitzchak – Akedah עקדה • Abraham was about to kill Yitzchak (Isaac) when an angel shouted, "Do not lay a hand on the boy," • Abraham looked over and saw a ram caught in the bushes. • He used it as a sacrifice on the altar instead of his son, Yitzchak (Isaac).

  11. Yitzchak and Yeshua

  12. Yeshua is Better Than Yitzchak • The 3 visitors were considered angels. • One of the three visitors was God Himself! • God loved the world so much that He sent his son. • Yeshua became a blessing to all people because He made the way for us to get to Heaven.
