  1. AN INCREDIBLE ASTRONAUT:”Mae Jemison The First African American Woman In Space!” By: Ruth Baez

  2. Introducing The First African Woman In Space! • Mae was born on October 17,1956. • She is still alive and is about 50 years old now. • When she was a little girl, it was impossible to be a scientist mostly if you were black because it was 1961, the Civil Rights Movement just started. • Mae’s mother Dorothy Jemison , made sure that her 3 children knew all about Martin Luther King.

  3. Mae’s kinder garden life in Dumas Elementary School! *What was most interesting about Mae’s childhood is when her teacher asked the children in kinder garden what they wanted to be when they grew up. Mae said “I want to be a scientist.”Which was impossible because it was 1961, the Civil Rights Movement was starting. *What influenced Mae to become a scientist is when she was in kinder garden when it was impossible for women to become a scientist mostly again if you were a black women like Mae.

  4. Introducing….. Mae’s wonderful achievements!!!! • One of Mae’s achievements is that she was welcomed in National Women’s Hall which was very important to her. • She also entered her dream movie which is “Star Trek.”Wow she became in all of her dreams BECAUSE she followed her dream!

  5. Welcoming…… • What I thought about this person is that she does not give up her dreams until she catches it and lives it. So what I think of Mae is that she is a very, very couragous African American woman to ever come to be a astronaut. • The reason why I chose Mae is because now she set the women freedom to become an scientist and go into space. Also I chose her because she made my dream come true which is to become a scientist. THANKYOU Mae Jemison.
