Key Characteristics NOT PATIENT ABLE TO ASSIST7.1 Transfer patient from bed to trolley • Apply the slide sheet via the near side (opposite to trolley) • Roll the patient toward the near side and pull the slide sheet through. • Position the pat slide on the bed, parallel to the patient, underneath the slide sheet, straddling the bed and trolley • Allow the patient to roll gently supine • Position the patient’s feet on the pat slide • Far side handler positions trolley against and parallel to bed, locks the breaks and lowers the trolley height slightly if possible • Handler(s) on trolley side grasp slide sheet and use weight transfer technique** to pull, as near side handler pushes.
