Delhi Sultanate Ruling Style – Muslim Government (rule by the Koran) Leaders – Muhmud of Ghazni and Mahmud of Ghur Achievements – The spread of Islam into India causing vast cultural change, and increased trade between India and the Muslim world Decline – Nomadic invasions (Tamerlane) causing (again) disunity among states (this time divided by religion)

  5. Mughal Empire Ruling Style – MILITARY CONQUEST, Toleration of faiths, paid officials rather than hereditary leaders Leaders – Babur (founder), Humayan, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb Achievements – increased international trade, modernized army (guns), land reform, improved religious relations, TajMahal Decline – Weak rulers, increased taxes, the arrival of Europeans
