  11. Behavior Expectations: S.T.R.I.K.E. • S.T.R.I.K.E. is our school-wide behavior plan. • We will use the S.T.R.I.K.E. matrix to set up the code of conduct for our students. • The teachers and staff at Depoali Middle School will be teaching you about the behavior plan all year • You will participate in reflection assignments and activities to help you understand the behavioral expectations here at Depoali Middle School

  12. So what does S.T.R.I.K.E. stand for?Student Planner – p. 2 • S: Strength – we have self-confidence and determination to succeed • T:Tolerance – we respect others and accept differences • R: Responsibility – we own our actions, decisions, and their outcomes • I: Integrity – we do the right thing even when no one else is watching • K:Knowledge – we are active participants in our education • E: Empathy – we seek to understand the feelings of others

  13. So, what does this mean for you? • Teachers and ALL staff members will be on the lookout for students who are meeting the expectations of S.T.R.I.K.E. • Signatures may be earned in each area of the matrix where you are meeting the expectations • 1 signature = 1 Diamond Buck credit • Diamond Bucks may be redeemed for items in the student store approximately every third Friday • There will also be random drawings for all students who received the tickets for every ten teacher initials

  14. What does this mean? (ctd.) • There will also be mid-quarter and end-of-quarter rewards for students who have met the criteria listed in the KDMS “Positive Reinforcement Levels” (Planner, p. 4) • Let’s take a look at that page in your planner

  15. KDMS Student Behavior Management Process • Please turn to page 3 in your Planner and follow along as we go through this very important information

  16. School Tour • Team Room • Elective Classrooms • Art room • Music • Gym • Lunchroom • Library • Nurse • Office • Bathrooms • Exits / Entrances

  17. Lockers – How-To Video • How To Open a Locker

  18. Lockers • Some locks are extremely tricky. You may find you have to tug harder, lean on your locker a bit, or jiggle the latch to coax it open. • If nothing works, ask for help. You could have a lock that's not working. • Memorize your combination. If you choose to write it down, write it someplace safe or hidden. Also, don't write your combination in the same place as your locker number. • Lockers have little tricks to help you unlock them faster. Sometimes you don't have to hit an actual number, but just hit a number that's nearby. • When you're done getting your books or anything you need out, close the locker shut & turn it to zero and begin clearing it. But stop after you did it 2 or 3 times. It saves time. • By clearing your locker instead of leaving it on the last number, it prevents other people from opening it. • If you can, practice opening a combination lock at home. The more you can practice with this type of lock, the easier opening your locker at school will be. • Keep your locker combination to yourself! Don’t give it away to anyone but your advisory teacher.
