ADVANTAGES OF PHANTOM INTERFACE SIZE RESEMBLES A SMALL DESK LAMP WORKSPACE IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF MOUSEPAD THE SIZE GIVES THE USER THE ABILITY TO WORK WITH THE DEVICE ON THEIR DESKTOP WHILE STILL HAVING ENOUGH WORKSPACE TO USE IT FREELY. GLOVES PROVIDE MORE DEGREES OF FREEDOM BUT WITH LESS PRECISION. THE SYSTEM OPERATES ON POINT CONTACT AND HAS MUCH HIGHER FIDELTY. IT CAN BE USED FOR HIGHLY TECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS. PHANTOM SETUP ALLOWS STYLUS OR THIMBLE TO FUNCTION AS SURGICAL TOOLS,PAINT BRUSHES OR OTHER TOOLS DEPENDING ON THE APPLICATION.

  18. CONCLUSIONS HAPTIC INTERFACE WILL CHANGE THE WAY THE WORLD USES COMPUTERS. BUT WHY HAVEN’T THEY ALREADY? THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS: COMPUTERS WERE’NT FAST ENOUGH.NOW THEY ARE. THE RAW MATERIALS DID’T EXIST.MATERIALS SCIENCE HAS CHANGED THAT. HAPTIC INTERFACES WERE’NT DESIGNED WELL. SOFTWARE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.A CRITICAL MASS OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS HAS EMERGED.
