  2. LOVING GOD -MEDITATION sikh meditates on God’s Name as it is the source of life for him. He keeps God’s Name in his heart while engaged in the day-to-day worldly pursuits. sikh gets the Divine blessing while praying in God’s love. He always cherishes to accumulate the treasure of God’s Name.

  3. Meditation (Nam Japna) • A Sikh is directed to concentrate his mind on God • To reflect on God's virtues such as love benevolence, and kindness. • He practices this to inculcate such virtues into his own character. • By reciting Gurbani, listening, to the singing of hymns from gurbani, or by sitting in a quiet place and attentively thinking of Him alone,

  4. Sikh develops a feeling of affection and love for all humans, who are children of the same father, God • Such a person does not merely talk about the brotherhood of humanity but he actually tries to feel it all the time in his life

  5. LOVING GOD • This achievement or realization changes the thinking and behavior of a person • . Instead of hurting others enjoys utilizing his life serving needy persons . • He cannot think of doing any act to harm a person, because he "sees" the living GOD inside every human being. • This is why Nam is given the highest priority in the Sikh faith

  6. HONEST LIVING A Sikh is advised to earn his livelihood by the sweat of his brow

  7. Honest living ‑(Dharm Di Kirt) • Furthermore, a person's Earnings, however large or small, should come from honest means. • If a person is dishonest, and takes what is not Justly his, these earnings are declared by 'the Gurus as the 'blood of the poor'. • There is always a great temptation to live a comfortable life by earning money through unfair means

  8. Guru Nanak Dev ji told Malik bhago Your earnings are stained by the blood of the‑poor from whom you extract money illegally and forcibly. How can your mind be pious or clean?

  9. SHARING WITH OTHERS—WAND KE CHAKHNA • sikh is ordained to spend daswand of income for poor and needy • Sharing is to be done as responsibility and not of pride Guru Hargobind sahib refused to accept honey as it was not given to needy sikh on the way • such acts provide peace and happiness

  10. Service to Humanity • Sikh shares his earnings with the unprivileged sections of the society. • He serves in the name of Guru and always cherishes the welfare of the humanity. • It is a tradition to provide food and shelter to needy person . • The human life without service is useless

  15. APPRECIATING SIKH REHAT –DIDAR KHALSA KA • A sikh does not worship picture or idols of God or Guru. • Neither he honors any living person as Guru • Rather respects the decision of the corporate body of sikhs, khalsa,since Guru Gobind singh bestowed Guruship on khalsa.

WISHING AND WORKING WELL FOR HUMANITY • Sikhs pray not for themselves alone but also for whole humanity • Belief in oneness of humanity and working for welfare of all even atcost of sacrificing one’ s life • All people ,believers or nonbelievers ,are offered free meals and other facilities in gurdwara

MAINTAING MORAL BEHAVIOUR • For a sikh lying ,cheating, stealing are forbidden • Sexual relations are restricted to married couples with their spouses • Ravishing another’s woman is eqivalent to the company of a venomous snake ---ggs379 But, like the companionship of a poisonous snake, so is the desire for another's spouse. ggs403

ACCEPTING WILL OF GOD • Everything happens according to His will we are executors of His will. • Rewards are given to us by God and weather our efforts are successful is according to his will. • Every righteous action will eventually lead to a favorable results • The faith that our right actions are part of GOD’S design ,even if we don't see the results ,dispels worries and bring us peace

  25. ABSTAINING FROMINTOXICANTS AND ADDICTION • Alcohol and other intoxicants are prohibited for sikhs • A person looses membership in the khalsa if uses drugs,alcohol,tobacco • Alcohol is to be detested .Even if it is prepared using gangajal,being a bad thing to drink--GGS
