  3. WHAT ARE OPTICAL TRANSCEIVERS? An optical transceiver is also known as Fiber Optical Transceiver or Optical Module. A ‘Transceiver’ is made up of two words, transmitter’ and ‘receiver’ which means it can perform the function of both a transmitter and a receiver. 02

  4. HOW OPTICAL TRANSCEIVERS WORK? A transceiver sends information as light, it utilizes a light source, for example, VSCEL, FP, and DFB laser, which is controlled by electronic devices, and to receive light pulses, for example, it utilizes a photodiode semiconductor. 03

  8. RECEIVING SENSITIVITY It is the power at which the receiver of the optical transceiver can receive optical signals. It should be within the range of bit error rate (BER = 10-12), in dBm. 07
