  2. What are script kiddies? • Hacker – Slang name given to someone extremely knowledgeable about computers. Pejorative in some circles – but not here. • Cracker – A malicious hacker that is only interested in breaking security to cause damage or for personal gain.

Script Kiddies – Derogatory term used to describe hackers who use programs written by other people without understanding the technical details. • Script Kiddies are often more concerned with the quantity of the systems broken into not the quality or difficulty of the system or security cracked. • Script Kiddies often cause more damage to systems because they may accidentally delete or corrupt files.
