According to Merriam Webster, social media is defined as, “forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos).”

Ten Suggestions for Teachers • Embrace BYOT- Bring Your Own Technology • Test the various technology ahead of time • Set some ground rules and understand the school’s and district’s rules • Teach students to be good cybercitizens • Follow-up and reflect to reinforce learning • Become social media savvy by using various forms • Get to know your schools tech limitations and where to get help • Understand buffering and bandwidths • Get students access to e-mail • Ensure everyone is able to see wall projections
