Treatments Include • EAP Work Counselling 2003 • Depression/ Vicarious Trauma • 2 years Eating Disorder /Family Therapy 2005 -2007 and as needed • Doctor /Patient Support Through Out • Victim of Bullying and a Toxic Work Environment • 6 Months ( DBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy/ Group Counselling • Ongoing Support as Needed in Thunder Bay • Mindfulness

  5. Mindfulness • Finding Neutral or Pause • Responding vs Reacting • Rebuilding and making a new tape to play in my belief message • Self-Hate vs Self-Love and Acceptance • Mood Altering • Self-Talk • I would not give you a copy of my inner tape, because the messages are crippling.

  8. Mission Statement • Mission Statement • Obesity Thunder Bay works to confront the issue of obesity through SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY and Responsibility. To effect social change through advocacy, research, education, and the elimination of unhealthy food environments. • We are a working think tank and welcome individuals and agencies to assist in our endeavour to promote healthy communities, and individuals. Please add your voice to the development of a new model that may create a comprehensive action plan. • Our model is called ,Shared Accountability and this project is 100 % not for profit. • Thank you for your interest.

  9. The war on obesity needs to be challenged with acceptance and peace talks. Children are being put at risk for eating disorders and unhealthy food relationships. At some point we need to begin to discuss education and healthy food environments. Size Zero has become an obse$$ion.

  11. Negative attitudes continue to plague our children. They are unacceptable and I believe we need to challenge them. Obesity children are not the enemy. Is food our next tobacco?

  12. Pregnant women in the UK are taking up smoking to have smaller babies. Desperate times could call for desperate measures. Healthy Eating Physical Activity Model continues to fail. Why?

Obesity is a By product • Feeling Better • Eating Better • Accepting you, today. • No more Fat Bullying. • Environmental Food Action Plans That is Affordable • Is it possible to target a by product? • Do we need to address complex issues with complex responses? • Living life off the scale. You are not a number.

  21. A child is no match for the billion dollar marketing industry. How food healthy is your school ? Accountability . Integrity and dignity needs to be added to the environment. Is food our next tobacco?

  23. The goal is to conduct a trial on the basis of the Shared Accountability Model. The war will be on against Blood Pressure. The effort will be built on support and advocacy . Obesity will not be a target. The by product of attacking blood pressure might be improved health and it might be acceptance and it might be inspiring and it might be many other things.

  24. According to a recent study from the U K . Inactivity does not cause obesity. Moreover obesity causes inactivity. We have a health crisis and it is time took ownership over the unhealthy food environment we helped to create. How can you help? Find time to promote the big fat discussion on childhood obesity. Challenge the inactivity propaganda machine. Dig into the obesity discussion and create your own ideas and maybe we will be able to create a real action plan.
