UN Environment Programme • Established in 1972 • The Governing Council - 58 members elected by the General Assembly, for four-year terms • Since 1999, the Global Ministerial Environment Forum convened annually to review important and emerging policy issues in the field of the environment • 2010-2011 Budget: $450.8 million • Environment Fund $180 million • Trust Funds & Support $191 million • Counterparts $66 million • UN Regular Budget $13.8 million
World MeteorologicalOrganization • World Meteorological Congress meets every four years to determine general policies for the fulfilment of the purposes of the Organization; • The Executive Council – annual meetings of 37 directors of National Meteorological or Hydrometeorological Services, serving in an individual capacity. • The President and three Vice-Presidents who are elected by Congress, • The presidents of the six regional associations, by whom they are elected. • The remaining 27 members are elected by WMO Congress. • 2010 Budget: 68 million chf
IUCN • A membership organization made up of more than 1,000 organizations • 80 States and 110 government agencies • More than 800 NGOs • 10,000 individual scientists and experts. • The priorities and work of IUCN are set by Member organizations every four years and subsequently coordinated by a professional secretariat with 1,100 staff in more than 60 countries. • Council – elected every four years at the IUCN World Conservation Congress • Budget: 2008 133.1 million chf and 2009 131.2 million chf
