  6. What is an allegory? • Hidden meaning within a story, poem or movie • A story, poem or movie that symbolizes something else • With an allegory, you can read the text as just a story, playful and entertaining, but you can also read it on a political level or a psychological level.

  7. Examples of Allegory • Animal Farm-an allegory about the Russian Revolution, with various characters representing several figures or groups of people at that time. • Avatar • Dante’s Divine Comedy • Lord of the Flies • Chronicles of Narnia- The character Aslan is an allegory for Jesus Christ.
