What is a movie poster? • There are many different types of posters: • Teaser Trailer Posters • DVD release posters • Official Cinema release posters Depending on what the purpose for the poster is. Movie posters are used for many different things and are a main form of advertisement which can be displayed both inside and outside of the cinema, on transport, and buildings. From movie posters the viewers can usually guess the genre of the film, given through conventions such as the masthead, slogan colour scheme, billing block and main image.

  3. Horror Trailer Poster Main Image: shows that this boy is the main character in the film based around him. Masthead Audience Feedback Background Image: House plays big part in location Title: Name of film in rough font shows oldness (scary) movie. Bottom third. Billing Box: Credits to those who helped make, produce and main characters in the movie. Slogan: Tells more about the film.

  4. Horror Trailer Poster Masthead: Question towards the viewers. Audience Feedback. Main Image: shows what story is about. And the main characters. Title: Name of movie in bottom third different font than rest of writing. Release Date: Tells when movie will be in cinemas. Slogan: Says more about the film.

  6. Comedy Poster Unique Selling Point: Actors names along top third let those who are “fans” of these know that they are in it. Main Image: shows men being “childish”, very colourful, and gives off a happy atmosphere. Mast head: This tile stands out from the poster written in blue font, it also allows the viewer to see that this is a comedy movie as its shows grown ups as the main image laughing and “messing”. Slogan: Shows what the film is about, gives bit of the story line. Release date: Summer Vibe.

  7. Unique Selling Point Masthead: States what the movie is about. Main image: This image again indicates again what the film is about showing the main characters, from their positions of standing we can also see that this is a comedy film. Release Date: Shows viewers when the film is going to be released in cinemas. Tagline
