Honoring Our Elders: The Shepherds of Our Church

Our elders are good men who shepherd this church with love and integrity (Acts 20:28; 1 Pet. 5:2). They strive to do what is right, guided by the teachings of Scripture (Matt. 7:21; 1 Thess. 2:13). It is essential that we honor our elders for their dedication (1 Tim. 5:17) and submit to their guidance (Heb. 13:17). Through their example, we learn to imitate their faith and commitment to Christ (Heb. 13:7; 1 Tim. 3:1-7). Let us acknowledge their vital role in our spiritual community.

  2. Our elders are good men, for they shepherd this church (Acts 20:28; 1 Pet 5:2). • Our elders are good men, for they want to do right (Matt 7:21; Matt 15:20). • Our elders are good men, for they love Scripture (1 Thess 2:13; 2 Pet 1:21).

  4. We need to honor our elders (1 Tim 5:17). • We need to submit to our elders (1 Tim 5:17; Heb 13:17). • We need to imitate our elders (Heb 13:7; 1 Tim 3:1-7).
