Flight info…Hold Baggage • Check the baggage allowance for your airline – UKC advice is 20kg • Think internal flights! If you are taking an internal flight…What is the baggage allowance? • Check what items can’t go in hold baggage • Padlocks • Travel Security Administration locks provided as part of your kit • You need to know what is in your bag, you are responsible for the contents! Pack it yourself!
Before you go…Hand Baggage • Check hand baggage allowance • Size limits on hand baggage • Liquids – none over 100ml • Transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of up to 20 x 20cm with a total capacity of up to one litre • Prohibited Items; knives, batteries • Medication – follow FDA advice esp for epipens • Never leave your baggage unattended • Water bottles
At the airport…Getting there • Make sure you arrive at least 3.5 hours before your flight • Have your documents to hand - ESTA copy, Passport • Plan for delays on the way too • Arrive at the correct terminal - some airports have many!
At the airport – check in • Look on the screens for the check in desks numbers for your airline • At check in you will be asked security questions • Make sure you know your return travel date • Bring a copy of your ESTA. Your ESTA status will be checked by the airline • Boarding passes for the USA are not issued in advance
Travel Dress Code • If you are on Option A & B and travelling as part of the Contingent you must travel in your uniform • We recommend you take a change of clothing in your hand luggage and change on the plane • You will need to change into your uniform once you arrive in the US • By travelling in uniform you will be easily identifiable, look out for each other!

USA to Site • Bus journey times: • Washington ~ 6 hours • Charlotte ~ 3/4 hours • Charleston ~ 1 hour • Prince Amtrak < 1 hour • Flight times may mean you arrive early or late in the morning/ evening
USA to Site • Support at the airport in USA, met by the following: • A member of UKC • A member of Travel Places • A member of TMS staff • For those arriving at Charlotte you will be met by the Jamboree team and board Jamboree TMS transport • Same applies for options C and D
Jamboree Arrivals • All attendees will arrive via the Ruby Welcome Centre • Your bus will wait why you register • Registration requires 2 forms: • Health questionnaire • Mental health questionnaire • Your Safe from Harm must be COMPLETED!
Departing Site • Those on Options A and D depart early on 3rd for Washington • Option B and C depart the same day • You will be notified of your departure time during the Jamboree once confirmed

A Tour of the Site • 3 IST Dining Halls • 1 Echo for all • 1 between C & D • 1 between A & B • Those between 2 subcamps will be limited to those with tickets.
Moving Across Site • Leave plenty of time • The site is made up of gravel paths • The site is very undulating • IST for some jobs will be provided with bus transport
Hand Luggage Tips • Comfy clothes a must • Something to change into on the plane • Small toiletries bag • Spare change of clothes if your bag is a no show • Adapter plug and cables • Travel pillow • Leave space for layers you may take off
Day pack Ideas • Water bottle • Travel mug • Lunch box/ bag • UK hat • Snacks - watch the bears • Waterproof/ jumper • Personal First Aid kit • Sunscreen • Badges to swap • Passport • Wallet • Torch • Work gear • Book/ Kindle • Mobile Phone • Solar charger • Sun glasses • Pen and paper
When things don’t go to plan • Contact the UK Contingent Emergency No. • The No. will be on the App! • Lost or damaged baggage • Report to your airline’s desk before you go through customs • Collect your reference • Keep any documentation given in a safe place • Report this to the UK Contingent
