  4. Purpose vs Goals • We have many GOALS • Practice Goals • Game Goals • Offensive Goals • Defensive Goals • Special Teams Goals • Our GOAL is to win in all that we do

  5. Lightning Football – Our Purpose • It cannot be about winning. Only 1 team wins a championship each season. • It cannot be about playing at the next level

PURPOSE • Our Program PURPOSE is different than our GOALS • Our purpose is to use the sport of football to help educate these young people and to help them to grow as students, as individuals, as teammates, as citizens. • My purpose is to facilitate, maintain, and promote a culture in which student-athletes consistently demonstrate the qualities of great teammates.

  7. Coaching Staff • 20 Coaches on Staff (2 are Part –time) • 16 Full time Teachers in the district • Of these 16 – 14 are full time at EVHS • 4 Private Sector Employees • 1 Parole Officer • 1 Lawyer • 3 Business Employess • Two of these 4 are EV graduates and former players • Other head coaches

  8. Player Safety • Helmets and Concussions • Helmets reconditioned and tested every other year • All coaches required by law to undergo concussion training • Helmet expert will check all helmets(8/16/19)

  9. Player Safety • Heat Index • Water Breaks • Severe Weather (Shoes) • Bad Weather (Shoes) • Injuries, visits to the doctor, etc…

  10. UNDERSTAND THIS MESSAGE THE TEAM COMES FIRST. • Every decision that is made will be based on the good of the team rather than on the wishes of individuals. • EXPECTATIONS ARE UNIFORM THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM. • There is no room for any behavior that draws attention to the individual.

  11. Practice • Practice is important. • Every day your child will learn something. • Each week of the season we play a different opponent that will do different things on offense, defense, and special teams than the opponent the prior week.

  12. Lettering Policy • More than a game • Emphasize what is important (not just football) • Academics, chemically free, strength room dedication, program and community service, team success, on-field contribution • Minimum expectations for section champions • Included in packet

  13. Lightning Football Dress Requirements • Document in Packet • Black is a good color to wear/purchase • We want to look like a team • 10th – 12th UNIFORM CARE: • Please DO NOT WASH your son’s uniform. • After each game they will be collected and washed by the coaching staff.

  14. Chemical Commitment • Goals: • Each individual takes personal responsibility for upholding their commitment • Maintain the integrity of the Leadership League • Grow the Group • Promote Team Unity • Prescription Drugs

  17. CONCERNS? • Playing Time is NOT equal at any level • Practice participation • Check with his level coach • Stories, impressions might be different

  18. District Participation Fee • Provides 12 Coaches • Most of our Transportation at all levels • Game Workers • Helmet Reconditioning Gate Receipts????

  19. FUNDRAISING PHILOSOPHY • Equitable fundraising opportunities • $0 out of pocket cost (excluding district participation fee) • Provide value added opportunities for all participants

  20. Fundraising • Average cost per player per year is $500 - $650 • We ask each player to contribute $300 + email addresses for our Snap Fundraiser • We encourage players to earn back this $300 • Flower Sale – Completed in April/May • Lightning Card - Next Wednesday (8/21) • Snap Fundraiser – 3rd Year of operation

  21. EV Football Equipment and Resource Contribution $100 • 100% Goes to ELTC (Touchdown Club) to Help Fund the Following Additional Coaches 9th Grade, 10th Grade JV, & Varsity • Yearly Equipment: • Footballs, Practice Pants, Helmets, Shoulder Pads, Helmet Hardware, Pad Sets, practice jerseys, game jerseys, game pants, belts, chin straps, dummies Additonal Transportation for Playoffs PAK Parties End of Season Parties Senior Gift Booster Activities (Homecoming, Parent’s Night) Hudl

Tackle Cancer Game • September 6, 2019 vs Burnsville • Partnership with Apple Valley Program to raise money for Randy Shaver’s Tackle Cancer Research and Community Fund • Tackle Cancer T-Shirts • Player Dodge Ball Tournament on Thursday, September 5 at EVHS EV/AV vs EV/AV Charge to get in – no change • #1 High School Fundraising Game in MN

EASTVIEW LIGHTNING TOUCHDOWN CLUB Purpose – Provide support (especially financial support) to all of Eastview High School’s football teams and to their coaching staffs to enable our teams to be competitive while providing a high quality, positive football experience for our Eastview football players, parents, fans, school and community. Bottom Line Whatever we can do to make Eastview football a great life-experience for everyone involved.

EASTVIEW LIGHTNING TOUCHDOWN CLUB • All Player’s Parents are Members of the Club! -No ELTC membership fee • The Eastview Lightning Touchdown Club ("ELTC") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to promote Lightning Football • Non-profit; accept donations tax deductible • Meetings are 1st Monday of Month at 7 pm

New class-focused approach to recruiting volunteers and Committee Chairs.
