  3. Interesting facts: Chickens • Chickens have feathers • Chickens lay eggs • A mother chicken lays 1-5 eggs at a time. • It takes chicks 21 days to hatch. • Chickens eat worms, insects, seeds, grains, snails, slugs, fruits, vegetables and many other foods. Menu

  4. Interesting Facts: Cows have hair Cows are mostly used for milk and beef. Cows can produce up to 200,000 gallons of milk in their lifetimes. Cows eat lots of grass. Cows have four stomachs to digest their food. Cows drink 25-50 gallons of water a day. Cows Menu

  5. Horses • Interesting facts: • Horses have hair. They have long mains and tails. • Horses eat hay, grass and oats. • Horses are used for herding cattle, sheep, and other herd animals. People also ride them in rodeos or just for fun. Horses used to be used for plowing and other jobs on the farm that are now done with machines. Menu

  6. Pigs Interesting facts: • Pigs have hair. They are one of the only two mammals besides humans that can get sunburns. • Pigs eat pretty much anything. They are eat vegetables and other human crops.  Pigs are sometimes fed table scraps • Pigs are raised for meat such as bacon, pork and ham. Menu

  7. Interesting facts: Dogs have fur or hair depending on the breed of dog. Dogs usually eat dog food but also enjoy bones and meat. Raw meat is not good for them. Menu Sheep • Interesting facts: • Sheep have wool. • Wool is used to make clothing and warm blankets. • Sheep eat mainly grass but also eat a variety of hay and oats. • Sheep provide us with food, leather, and wool for clothing.  They also give us the raw materials for products such as soap and glue. • Sheep feed their babies milk just as other mammals do.

Page 2 will contain the answer in the bottom right corner • On the slide 15 (bottom – right hand corner of page 1), cut around both sides and the bottom to create a flap. • Place glue on the back of page 1 – do not put glue on the “flap” • Place page one on top of page 2 so that the pages are directly on top of each other. • Quiz a member of your family to see if they know about farm animals. • Have fun!!
