  1. Creating Womenswear Masterpieces & Blossoming Lives

  2. India is a land of art and crafts. Using locally available goods and guided by a beautiful vision they make wonderful artifacts. Most of Indian garments carry a kind of embroidery or the other in order to be more beautiful and attractive. Embroidery in general terms, is a kind of work of fine threads on the surface of a fabric in an artistic pattern. Different regions of India have different embroidery traditions on the basis of fabric, thread, design and the color combinations applied. Due to their distinct style, intricate craftwork, complex process and over all their elegance, Indian Embroidery styles are popular world over. Some of very famous Indian Embroidery styles are discussed in different heads below. One of the most prominent features of the Lucknow chikankari work is the stitches. Each and every stitch is done to perfection and the neatness in the work is hard to find elsewhere. The delicate and artfully done hand embroidery gives the garment a look of richness and skillfulness.

  3. Chikankari: This is one of the most sought after embroidery work of India. Chikankari is most delicately done embroidery on muslin, georgette, chiffon and other fine fabrics with white yarn. Different kind of stitches like flat stitches, embossed stitches and small stitches make the fabric very beautiful. A fabric that is to be embellished with chikankari undergoes through five different processes viz. stitching, printing, embroidery, washing, and finishing. Creeper motif is the most commonly used motif in chikankari, whereas flower motifs like jasmine, rose, flowering stems, lotus and paisley motifs are also very popular. Chikankari embroidery is not limited to only garments but it is done on various home furnishing items also like cushion covers, pillow covers, table linen and partition curtains. Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh is the biggest center of Chikankari.

  4. What is Chikankari design? The technique of creation of a chikan work is known as chikankari (चिकनकारी یراک نکچ). Chikan is a delicate and artfully done hand embroidery on a variety of textile fabrics like muslin, silk, chiffon, organza, net, etc. White thread is embroidered on cool, pastel shades of light muslin and cotton garments

  5. Why is Chikankari so expensive? It's labour intensive and therefore expensive. Many shops these days have started fixing ready-made nets in the fabric in place of a handmade Jaali. It brings down the price and might appeal to some buyers but it's not authentic Chikan. The dress is expensive for those who consider this as a garment. Actually Chikan (or Chikankari, which is its full name) is an art. As you well know that art is priceless, the price lies in the eyes of the person who sees it in his / her capacity. You see, I see many paintings from world renowned painters but am unable to understand why they are for 3cr or 5cr . Now regarding the product : The material used is pure silk georgette imported from Italy. The Indian or Arabian georgettes, when dyed, do not display the bright shade as in the sample, they’re somewhat dull. Also they are heavier.

  6. How many types of Chikankari are there? There are 32 stitches of chikankari, which are broadly classified into Raised stitch, Embossed and Flat stitch and Open Trellis. Zanzeera, Rahet, Banarsi, Khatau, Phanda, Turpai, Darzdari, Pechani, Bijli, Ghaspatti, Makra, Kauri, Hathkadi, Banjkali, Sazi, Karan, Kapkapi, Madrazi, Bulbul- chasm, Taj Mahal, Janjeera, Kangan, Dhania-patti, Rozan,Meharki, Chanapatti, Baalda,Jora,Keel kangan , Bulbul , Sidhaul , Ghas ki patti .

  7. How can you tell real Chikankari? All designs are uniform in their lines and each of the products of Lucknow chikankari appears to be identical. There is no fluctuation for the stitcher's enthusiasm for fine art. The pattern will be sewed similarly as the PC design directs Why is Chikankari famous? It offers exquisite Nawabi cuisine, the most graceful dance form that is Kathak is believed to have originated here and it's the hub for a craft that has become world famous for its intricacy and beauty and that is chikankari.
