Rounding

Rounding. At this point the rounding is just to the nearest 10 or 100 or 1000 etc. Remember that exactly halfway or more gets rounded up and less than half is rounded down. Example. Round 429 to the nearest 10.

  2. At this point the rounding is just to the nearest 10 or 100 or 1000 etc. Remember that exactly halfway or more gets rounded up and less than half is rounded down.

  3. Example Round 429 to the nearest 10. Rounding to the nearest 10 means look at the ones column. It is a 9 which is half or more so the number rounds to the next 10. 429 rounds to 430 (to the nearest 10)

  4. Example Round 1532 to the nearest 100. Rounding to the nearest 100 means look at the 10s column. It is a 3 which is less than half so the number in the hundreds stays the same. 1532 rounds to 1500 (to the nearest 100)

  5. Example Round 12495 to the nearest 1000. Rounding to the nearest 1000 means look at the 100s column. It is a 4 which is less than half so the 1000s number stays the same. 12495 rounds to 12000 (to the nearest 1000)
