This devotional explores the profound teachings of Jesus in Matthew 10:37-39, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing our relationship with God above all else, even our closest family ties. We reflect on the meaning of taking up our cross to follow Christ and consider the paradox of finding our true life by losing it for His sake. Inspired by Jim Elliot's wisdom, we'll challenge our perspectives on love, sacrifice, and the eternal value of our faith in God, ultimately discovering what it means to be worthy of Him.

According to Your Faith Matthew 10:37-39 (NIV) Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; [38] and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. [39] Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
Consider • In what ways do people put human relationships before their relationship with God? • What do you think it means to lose your life for Christ’s sake? • “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” Jim Elliot
