  1. Homecoming 2012 Gimnasio los Andes A great cultural fundraiser for the English Department

  2. What is homecoming? Homecoming is an annual tradition of the United States. People, towns, high schools and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back alumni and former residents. It is built around a central event, such as a banquet and, most often, a game of American football, or, on occasion, basketball, ice hockey or soccer. When celebrated by schools, the activities vary widely. However, they usually consist of a football game played on a school's home football field, activities for students and alumni, a parade featuring the school's marching band and sports teams, and the coronation of a Homecoming Queen (and at many schools, a Homecoming King). A dance commonly follows the game.

  3. Homecoming Theme • Homecoming always has a theme to base decorating and some spirit days on. Some examples of homecoming themes include, Pirates of the Caribbean, Under the Sea, Wizard of Oz, Superheroes, Renaissance, A night in Paris, Jungle Boogie, etc. • The theme could be voted upon by the students or chosen by the English department

  5. Common Activities • Spirit Days: A week of “jeans days”, except based on a common theme i.e. crazy hair day, twin day, pajama day, hippie day, etc. (1.000 pesos per day) • Window Painting: Students paint the windows to reflect the homecoming theme. Teachers choose which grade/class did the best and they win a prize. • Homecoming Game: Alumni and students attend an important soccer game. We are thinking about having a student vs. faculty game at Cafam • Homecoming dance: a formal or informal event, either at the school or an off-campus location. The venue is decorated, and either a disc jockey or band is hired to play music. In many ways, it is a fall prom
