  2. Introduction In 2009 Brown Dog organised the “Canoe Marathon” in the Ross-on-Wye area. Whilst this event was not as difficult as other annual brown dog challenges, it was one of the most enjoyable events we have ever organised. So many of you have asked us to re-organise this event and so I have decided to re-organise this event as part of my own personal fundraising activities. You don’t have to get sponsorship or donations from people, you can just take part and a proportion of the cost will go to the 2013 Brown Dog campaign. If you can get sponsorship and donations then obviously I encourage you to do that. This event is open to Adults (over 18) who can swim – cost £25 per person Generally there will be 2 people in a canoe. Children (13 and over) can join adults in a canoe – cost £10 per teenager You will meet at Simonds Yat (near Ross-on-Wye) where you will be transported to the start at Hoarwithy. At Ross-on-Wye we will stop for lunch and then afterwards you will progress to the end point at Symonds Yat. The river isn’t that deep, but it can be quite fast slowing on some stretches and is perfectly safe as long as you follow the safety briefing you will be given before you start. Water-tight boxes are provided to put food and valuables in. The 24 mile route is extremely beautiful and you ill see an abundance of wildlife. Let’s hope for a hot July day where we can splash along one of the most beautiful Rivers in Great Britain – get in touch and book your place now – mark.storer@bt.com Mark Storer – Brown Dog Founder – Canoe Marathon Organiser – 07507-215403 Only 20 canoes available Book early to guarantee your place
