  2. Our Healthy challenge: Eat 5 a day. Take part in Wake up Shake up each day of the week.

  3. Why do we need to eat 5 a day? Fruit and veg are packed with essential vitamins, minerals and fibre which help to keep us healthy.

  4. KS1 will eat a piece of fruit provided by school . KS2 can buy a piece of fruit from the fruit stalls in their playground for 40p. Yr3 children can come to the front playground to buy their fruit.

  5. A class will lead the dancing each week.KS2 will come to the back playground at the end of dinner.

  6. To encourage you to eat 5 a day we are going to give you a container to post tokens in if you have had your 5 a day.In a Monday assembly we will give a certificate out to the winning class.

  7. All packed lunch children should try to bring fruit or vegetables or salad in their packed lunch every day. The children who have dinners will need to eat the fruit or vegetables included in their school dinner.

  8. Dip one It’s fun to dunk. Cucumber, pepper and carrot sticks all go great with low fat dips. Sprinkle one It’s easy to add fresh, frozen or canned fruit or vegetables on top of a pizza.

  9. Snack on one Fresh and dried fruit counts. Try raisins or dried apricots – they make a great healthy treat. Add one: Try grated or chopped carrots in spaghetti bolognaise, or put vegetables in a macaroni cheese.

  10. Open one: Canned fruit and vegetables counts too. Pulse One: Lentils, beans and peas are pulses that count towards 5 A Day.

  11. Defrost one: Frozen fruit and vegetables also counts. Drink one: One glass ( 150ml ) of unsweetened fruit juice or smoothie per day counts as one portion.

  12. Pack one A piece of fruit or vegetables can help cheer up a lunchbox. Try carrot sticks, baby tomatoes or cucumber sticks. Chop one: Make a fun fruit salad and put in all your favourite fruits.

  13. Y3-Y6 come and buy a piece of fruit from our fruit stall tomorrow The fruit will cost 40p a piece.
