New ASNMU Leadership and Recent Initiatives at NMU

In April 2010, Lucia Lopez and Courtney Russell were elected as President and Vice-President of the Associated Students of Northern Michigan University (ASNMU). Lopez, a junior majoring in Electronic Journalism, hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, while Russell, also a junior, specializes in Outdoor Recreation, Leadership, and Management from Charlevoix, Michigan. The recent elections saw a record turnout of 2,308 votes, resulting in the passing of key initiatives, including the North Wind funding and Campus Wellness Initiative, while others, like the ASNMU initiative, failed.
