  3. Emerging Health Technologies Background • Organization chartered October 2006 • Aligned under new VHA Office of Informatics and Analytics • Have evolved away from broad spectrum technology scanning • Key focus is now Veteran and clinician interfaces to systems

Primary EHT Services • UX assessments • Hardware form factors, input and display technology, software applications, software templates • UX interface design • Software applications, software templates, mobile, desktop • Trending • Health care, interfaces, UX advances, weak signal detection • Maintain UX Body of Knowledge • Design patterns, ergonomics, information visualization, error elimination, scenarios, templates, test harnesses

Process Context • Work is upstream: early exploration, conceptual and design stages • Engaged with VA-DoD, Hi2, VHA Innovation, open source and other initiatives • Not typically tied to specific development projects • Processes are highly field user driven, including technology assessment selection • Work centers on technology fitness, not brand specificity • Looking to use RFI process to access “market research” devices
