  3. BCEO Plan Winter 2009-10 • Tons of salt spread: 7,202 (Avg. winter: 6000 tons) • Gallons of salt brine: 18,513 • Gallons calcium chloride: 12,800 • Labor hours: 7,607 • Snow/Ice events: 18 • Avg. cost per event: $59,398 • Total cost for 2009-10 season $1,069,165

  4. BCEO PLAN • Responsible for 596 lane miles http://bceo.org/departments/operations/operations.html • Two teams, A-Team / B-Team • Each team includes 1 supervisor, 15 drivers, 1 mechanic, 1 operator, 2 back-up drivers (if needed).

  5. BCEO PLAN • Local Training / Roadeo October 28th and 29th • Start winter on-call November 5th • Each team works 12hr shifts if needed • Switch at 7:30AM and / or 8:00PM • Respond to answering service from BCSO / PD • Page teams • Goal, on routes within 90 minutes of call

  6. BCEO PLAN • Monitor Weather Tap • Anti-icing-apply 25,000 gallons prior to snow • After hours, First flake, BCSO / PD needs to call main number, 513- 867-5744 for county roads • Don’t forget the twp crews, ODOT, cities • Know the difference / map

  7. BCEO PLAN • If forecast warrants, we will load trucks previous night, come in prior to storm and be on routes before snow falls

BCEO PLAN • Please call the main number 513-867-5744 after hours and 513-785-4157 normal hours • Record of call, supervisors will be paged • Don’t call trucks off routes • Please help with traffic control if possible, if we are stuck in traffic we can’t help. • Continue to work with townships, remote salt pick-up • If truck breaks down or gets stuck in ditch we will notify townships, pull spare truck

  9. BCEO PLAN • Anti-icing Plan weather permitting apply liquid brine • Takes just over 8 hours to apply 25,000 gallons of brine using 5 distributors and 4 remote sites • Continue to Evaluate Beet Juice 2010

  10. BCEO PLAN • Cargil ($64.48/ton) • BCEO currently has a full barn and enough on contract to get through the season • Twp. Cities and villages are also under same county contract • Order salt often • Be ready and have an alternate plan
