Molecular Markers for Grain Protein Content in Durum Wheat and Bread Wheat Transfer
This study explores the genetic basis of grain protein content in durum wheat utilizing repetitive DNA sequences, microsatellites, and AFLPs. We investigate the transfer of specific molecular markers, including RSL-DIC, RSL-LGD, and various associated genotypes, from durum wheat to bread wheat varieties such as Langdon and Prosper. Key RSL-DIC and RSL-LGD markers help in breeding programs aimed at improving protein content. The findings can facilitate more efficient selection in breeding efforts, enhancing the nutritional quality of wheat.
