Student Athletes Role • Be Physically Healthy • Manage Time – prioritize activities &school (PLUS period) • Respect Authority – coaches, officials and opponents • Love & Respect the Game/Sport, Coaches, Teammates, Opponents & Officials • Be a Team Player – star, roll player, bench player …… • Leaders on our Campus…….

Coaches Role • Create a positive learning experience • Role model • Be organized and communicate schedules, times, dates, etc. • Communication Protocol: Player – coach Player – Coach and Program Head Player – Coach, Program Head , Parent Player – Coach, Program Head, Parent , AD Player – Coach, Program Head, Parent , AD, Principal • Demand high behavioral expectations for their Teams/players • Teach the skills and strategies of their sport • Ambassador of our School & Community

Parents RoleWe are all in this together • Support their student’s efforts to participate – health, time management, attitude • Role model – the attributes expected of our athletes & coaches • Respect authority – coaches, officials, opponents • Follow Communication Protocol • Understand the Coach and their direction • Cheer your hearts in positive and constructive manner!

  10. NO PLACE FOR… • Parent/fan berating an official for a poor call……. • Parent/ fan yelling (instructions, negativities, non-positive statements) at players, including their own, during competition. • Parent/fan approaches coach immediately after a contest demanding a meeting.

ATHLETIC CLEARANCE • Online Athletic Registration – New this year! • No more athletic packets & no more clearance slips • Everyone registers for their sport(s) online (medical info, ER contacts, handbook, etc.) • Physicals can be emailed or handed into the athletic office • VAC can be paid online or by check made out to RHS in the athletic office • Residential Eligibility • Transfer Students: all students coming to RHS from another school MUST speak with our Athletic Director after meeting with our School Registrar and enrolling for classes. CIF must approve ALL transfer students for athletic eligibility. CIF forms may be required, subject to the conditions of the student transfer. See CIF bylaws 206, 207 and 510 for student transfer details (www.cifsjs.org)

  12. WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORTATION? Our priority is to maintain our programs and coaches rather than provide transportation. VAC replaced Transportation Fee to save RHS Athletics (There is no requested $100 transportation fee.) Transportation Options for Teams: • Parent arranged transportation to and from events. • If parents are unable to arrange transportation, the coach and athletic department will recruit district approved parent drivers. • Possible use of district transportation for specific sports based on funding, length of trip, and number of athletes.

  13. CRITERIA 2.0 GPA NO MORE THAN 1 NM @ QUARTER NO MORE THAN 1 NC @ SEMESTER – PASS 20 UNITS PROCESS DECLARATION DAY EACH NINE WEEKS FALL – 4TH / 1ST QUARTER – SUMMER October 21st 2013 WINTER – 1ST /2ND QUARTER January 13th 2014 SPRING – 2ND / 3RD QUARTER March 24th 2014 ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY

  14. ATHLETIC POLICIES Athletic Code of Conduct: • CLASS III INFRACTIONS – - Alcohol and Drugs • PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS (steroids) • ATTENDANCE – 100% on Game Days - Handbook on-line at www.rocklin.rhs.k12.ca.us • SOCIAL MEDIA (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine, Text messages)

Social Media and Athletics • Permanent Digital Imprint -“Netiquette” – Educate your student about the fact that their words, pictures, and images online are permanent. • “Stop, Block, and Tell”. • Not Looking for it , but will follow up when information is presented. • All athletes and parents will sign a Social Media contract and is online........
