FEMA • Created in 1979 by Executive Order • 2003 became part of the Department of Homeland Security
Mission • To reduce the loss of life and property and protect communities from all hazards • Natural Disasters • Acts of terrorism • Man-made disasters
What they do… • Create action plans for emergencies • Control disaster/emergency communication • Provide assistance and resources • Train emergency response personnel
What is it? • Nation’s largest public health agency • Work to protect you, your family, your friends and your community.
Mission • From the food you eat, to the air you breathe, to staying safe wherever you are, CDC′s mission touches all aspects of daily life.

History • Began in 1693 when the Massachusetts Bay Colony called up a militia to protect the colony from the Native American • The Guard deployed more than 50,000 troops in just over two weeks to support the Gulf States following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Mission • Providing trained and equipped units to the states to protect life and property and to the nation in order to defend the United States and its interests worldwide.
