INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS - 2011 • The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. • Year 2011 is not only International year of forests, it is also 10th anniversary year of „Day of Tree“ in Slovakia, in Open Air Museum in Vydrovo valley...

  3. „DayofTree“9th July 2011 In themiddleof the beautiful forestenvironment awaits youthe ForestryOpenAir Museumwitha rich cultural program and a number of interesting, entertaining and informative activities. Come to relax in Vydrovovalley withoutsmog, duties and everyday worries into the heartof nature around Čierny Balog. Total year to plant a tree, we show you more than70 Forest attractions and what can be produced from wood. A lot of other attractions in the beautiful forest ofHorehronie.

Basic information • 140 ha area of Forestry Open AirMuseum, • 3.3 km long walkingpath with information points, • 71 points – attractionswith basic factsabout the forest, • its mainfunctions and services, • forest wildlife, • history of forestry, • forestmachinery, and most importantly, about its irreplaceable role in ourlives. • 57,600 visitors in year 2010 from 23 countries, • more than 270,000 visitors from 2003 from 40 countries, • „Day of Tree“– 18,000 visitors in 2010, • Tree of the year 2011 – maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) • Season 1st May – 30th September, • „DayofTree“ on 9th July 2011, • Forest is open every day!
