  8. Start with Basics What is an Air Barrier? A system of construction components – part of the building enclosure – designed, installed and integrated in such a manner as to stop the uncontrolled flow of air into and out of the building enclosure. 100% continuity is critical to performance.

  9. What is a Water Barrier? A material designated to prevent or retard the flow of liquid water through a building assembly. Substantial discontinuities are permissible as long as water can shed (kinetic flow) downward and out of the building. Start with Basics
