  3. April 22, 2010 - Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek Calls for Campus-Wide Support of the UT Knoxville Climate Action Plan maintaining and enhancing UT Knoxville’s place as a national leader in campus sustainability is one of the strategic goals for our campus this plan is at the heart of that effort. One step in the commitment is to implement a plan by which the campus will become climate neutral series of progressive steps over the coming decades target of total climate neutrality by the year 2061. Facilities Services Department has shown strong leadership of our sustainability efforts. No single department can meet this goal alone.

Provide Alternatives to Single Occupant Vehicles Project A6: Reduce SOV commuting miles per year to 25% below FY 07-08 levels This project would use a combination of policies and programs to encourage alternatives to single occupant vehicle (SOV) commuting among UT Knoxville faculty, staff and students. Goal - 25 percent reduction in SOV commuting by FY 20-21. •Because project relies on behavioral changes, assume it would need to be phased in over several years.

E-bike Share Proof of Concept on UT Campus • Small Scale Project to Test Technology and Market • Three goals: research, education, and service • Small ARRA grant for equipment • Teaming with Currie Technologies for e-bikes • Building customized station, kiosk, and recharging infrastructure • Teaming with Ag-Biosystems Engineering (Stacey Worley and David Smith) • Bikes will be fully equipped with sensors • This class helping with many of the components
