  2. Ohio Regulatory UpdateHazardous Waste • Air Emissions rules for hazardous waste TSDFs and LQGs • (a.k.a. Subpart AABBCC rules) • Covers: • Subpart AA - Emissions from process vents on HW management units • Subpart BB – Emission leaks from equipment connections/valves • Subpart CC – Emission from tanks, containers and surface impoundments • Already implemented in Ohio by USEPA • Proposal Spring 2014

  3. Ohio Regulatory UpdateHazardous Waste • Designate new HWs as Universal Wastes • Wastes under consideration: • Aerosol cans • Paint wastes • Antifreeze • Pharmaceutical waste • Electronics • Proposal in mid 2014

  4. Ohio Regulatory UpdateHazardous Waste • Develop rule to allow central collection of CESQG hazardous wastes • Ohio now has biennial HW reporting; next HW report due March 1, 2014 • HW contingency plans for LQGs no longer required to be submitted to Ohio EPA

Ohio Regulatory Update Solid Waste • Revised infectious waste rules will be effective in March 2013 • Legislation was proposed in the Ohio House to regulate the disposal of drilling wastes from gas and oil exploration • Revision of Ohio’s solid waste statute (aka: HB 592) • Update the way solid waste is handled and disposed in Ohio considering changes in technology; management and disposal practices; and the experiences from all interested parties

Federal Regulatory Update Solid Waste • Classification of nonhazardous secondary materials that are burned as a fuel or an ingredient in a manufacturing process • Defines whether a secondary material is a waste when burned and whether the combustion unit is an industrial furnace or a solid waste incinerator for purposes of the air permit • Adopted 3/2011 • Revised 1/2013
