Evaluate athletes' readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted. Conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness in order to provide emergency or continued care, and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians Care for athletic injuries using physical therapy equipment, techniques, and medication.
Training / Education • To become a BOC-certified athletic trainer (AT), you must earn a degree from a college or university with an accredited athletic training program, then – depending on your state regulation – take and pass the exam administered by the Omaha-based Board of Certification (BOC).
