Emerging findings – employer briefings and briefing toolkit • Choose your audience carefully • General Traineeships information is not enough by itself to get people out of the workplace • Link a Traineeship briefing to a related event • Sector specific approaches have worked better on a local basis • Apprenticeships well understood, traditional work experience understood, Traineeships need more explaining on an individual basis – an event briefing is not enough to engage an employer • QUESTION – what would you like included in an employer briefing toolkit?

  4. Emerging findings – case study videos • No findings yet – not shown to anyone! • 2 filmed (sports coaching and gas fitting) • 1 edited to ‘rough cut’ stage – for ‘premier’ at AELP conference • 1 still to film (childcare) • What do you think? Feedback please to inform final filming.

Emerging findings – work placement projects • Lots of commercially available ‘work experience diaries’ • Some sector specific guides to work experience(eg skills for care) • Awarding bodies promoting their existing work experience units as a traineeship work placement record • Nothing found specifically and appropriately tailored to Traineeship placements that can be easily adapted to different models/lengths of placement • WBTC producing 6 sector based templates with employer input – available end July • QUESTION – is there a need for a particular project/work book aimed at Trainees in micro-businesses?
