  1. No Room for Fear 1John 4:15-19 MSG By Eric L. Frazier, Minister

  2. No Room for Fear • (1Jo 4:15 MSG) Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God's Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. • (1Jo 4:16 MSG) We know it so well, we've embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God. God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. • (1Jo 4:17 MSG) This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day--our standing in the world is identical with Christ's. • (1Jo 4:18 MSG) There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life--fear of death, fear of judgment--is one not yet fully formed in love. • (1Jo 4:19 MSG) We, though, are going to love--love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.

  3. No Room for Fear • Purpose: • To examine what it means to live in Love as opposed to living in Fear • Objective: • To understand that Fear is of the devil and has nothing to do with God. The Devil is a liar. Trusting & Loving God leaves no room for fear.

  4. No Room for Fear • Key Verse: • (1Jo 4:18 MSG) There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life--fear of death, fear of judgment--is one not yet fully formed in love.

  5. No Room for Fear • Outline: 1John 4:15-19 MSG • Participate continuously in an intimate relationship with God. • Recognize that you have a permanent residence in a life of love. God is love. • Understand that you should be free of worry on Judgment Day • Understand that there is no room for fear in love.

  6. No Room for Fear • What is fear? • A painful emotion or passion excited by an expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger.

  7. No Room for Fear • What is fear? • Fear expresses less apprehension than dread, and dread less than terror and fright. Fear is the most moderate degree of passion. (Fear, Dread, Terror, Fright) • Fear is an uneasiness of mind, upon the thought of future evil likely to befall us.

  8. No Room for Fear • In scripture, fear is used to express a slavish emotion. • In good men, the fear of God is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view and real love of the divine character.

  9. No Room for Fear • When you love the character of God you hate and shun every thing that can offend such a holy being. • Your inclination then is to aim at perfect obedience which leads to slavish fear.

  10. No Room for Fear • Slavish fear is the effect or consequence of guilt. • It is the painful apprehension of merited punishment. • The love of God removes our fear. Rom 8:1-4

  11. No Room for Fear • (Rom 8:1 MSG) With the arrival of Jesus, the Messiah, that fateful dilemma is resolved. Those who enter into Christ's being-here-for-us no longer have to live under a continuous, low-lying black cloud. • (Rom 8:2 MSG) A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.

  12. No Room for Fear • (Rom 8:3 MSG) God went for the jugular when he sent his own Son. He didn't deal with the problem as something remote and unimportant. In his Son, Jesus, he personally took on the human condition, entered the disordered mess of struggling humanity in order to set it right once and for all. The law code, weakened as it always was by fractured human nature, could never have done that. The law always ended up being used as a Band-Aid on sin instead of a deep healing of it.

  13. No Room for Fear • (Rom 8:4 MSG) And now what the law code asked for but we couldn't deliver is accomplished as we, instead of redoubling our own efforts, simply embrace what the Spirit is doing in us.

  14. No Room for Fear • Key Verse: • (1Jo 4:18 MSG) There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life--fear of death, fear of judgment--is one not yet fully formed in love.

  15. No Room for Fear • We make no room for fear when we: • Participate continuously in an intimate relationship with God. 1Jo 4:15 MSG • When you are in an intimate relationship with God you feel secure in what you set out to do. • Intimate implies that you have more than a ceremonial relationship with God (ceremonial equals shallow.) • 1Pe 3:15 Through thick and thin, keep your hearts at attention, in adoration before Christ, your Master. Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you're living the way you are, and always with the utmost courtesy.

  16. No Room for Fear • We make no room for fear when we: • Recognize that you have a permanent residence in a life of love. God is love. 1Jo 4:16 MSG • God is not like your parents who will threaten to kick you out. • His love isn’t temperamental like your friends or family. • His love is nurturing and complete and leaves no room for doubt or fear.

  17. No Room for Fear • We make no room for fear when we: • Understand that we should be free of worry on Judgment Day • Our relationship with God is gives us that confidence of salvation • Our standing in the world is identical with Christ. • God’s loves matures and helps us to recognized that we cannot save ourselves. God Saves Not Man. • (1Jo 4:17 MSG) This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day--our standing in the world is identical with Christ's.

  18. No Room for Fear • We make no room for fear when we: • Understand that there is no room for fear in love. • Making room for fear robs us of our confidence of success in life • Changes our relationship with God from a loving son/daughter to a fearful slave. • Paralyzes us from achieving God’s purposes for our life. • Leads to a fearful life that cripples us in virtually area of our life: • Relationships, Business, Work, Personal development, achieving Goals. • To succeed in life our life must be fully formed in love. • (1Jo 4:18 MSG) There is no room in love for fear.
