2. Lynch’s Pharmacy Kells. • For my first week of work experience, I choose lynch’s pharmacy in kells, because it’s my local pharmacy and I wanted to try something different.

3. Work experience diary for lynch’s pharmacy. 22nd of October 2012 I started at 9 o’clock this morning. I was met by Lorna the floor manager she showed me around the pharmacy and got me started by checking the dates on the tablets on the shelves. The working conditions were inside and it was warm and the pharmacy was very clean. I was then introduced to Neil the pharmacist. Later on I was shown by Lorna how to use the till and to put the morning stock on the system. You needed patience for it to be done properly. It was straight forward for me to do. I finished at half 3 and was tired at the end of the day. 23rd of October 2012 I started at 9 o’clock this morning. I was asked to sweep the floor before the rest of the employees arrived. Today I was introduced to another pharmacist called Barbara. I did the morning stock again this morning. It was busier than yesterday and there was a lot of work to do as the start of the Christmas stock arrived. It was nice seeing all the sets coming out for Christmas. I was then asked to put them into stock and price them I really enjoyed doing them. I’m really starting to enjoy this type of job. I finished at half 3 again today.

4. 24th of October 2012 I was in at 9 o’clock today again. Lorna asked me would I do the stock of the Rimmel and Catrice makeup brands. It took me a good while to go through and took a lot of patience but I didn’t make any mistakes which was good! For lunch today me and Lorna went to the round tower for lunch which was nice. We went back and more Christmas sets arrive so I spent the rest of the day doing them and went home at half 3. 25th of October 2012 I was in at 9 o’clock. Today I was met by Kathleen and Colette I really enjoyed working with them. I did the morning stock again today and priced the goods. Today got really busy and everyone was starting to put things by for Christmas. The biggest stock came in today was Elizabeth Arden, juicy couture and Justin bieber sets. We decided that we will start them tomorrow. I really enjoy working at the pharmacy don't want tomorrow to be the last day.

5. 26th of October 2012 Today's the last day and I arrived in at 9 o’clock . Today was the busiest day so far, There was a lot of people dropping in prescriptions, so Neil was busy. We were busy getting the Elizabeth Arden, Justin bieber and juicy couture sets ready. We put them in stock and priced them. We then cleaned the shelves and rearranged the sets on the shelves. It was nice decorating the pharmacy for Christmas. At the end of the day I thanked everyone for having me for the week and gave them a card. I really enjoyed this weeks work experience.

6. Conclusion. For this type of work you need patience and good communication skills. I think this type of work suited me well and I enjoyed it well. I didn’t have any negativities about this type of work. I enjoyed helping people and working with Stock that came in. I was able to handle everything well it got me awhile to get use to it but I succeeded well, it was nerve racking at times but I got over that. Overall I really enjoyed this experience and would like to try something like it again.

7. Headfort Arms Hotel My second week of work experience was In the Headfort Arms Hotel. I only did three days as I was doing a peer education course. I was in Reception, the coffee shop and the spa rooms Upstairs. I enjoyed all three of them.

8. Work experience for headfort arms hotel 5th of October 2012 I started at 9 o’clock that morning I was met by one of the receptionists called Susan. She started me off by helping aisling another receptionist doing the cheques. When we were finished me and aisling went around the hotel doing a fire check, it took us around half an hour to do. She showed me around and showed me some of the suite like the bridal suite ‘Taylor suite’, the hen and golfers suites also. She showed me some of the older rooms in the older building and the family rooms also. At around 11 it got really busy in the coffee shop ‘cafe Therese’ so I was asked to help out down there. I cleared tables and helped out with making sandwiches. I was there the rest of the day and went home at half 3. Bridal suite ‘Taylor suite’. Reception seating area.

9. 6th October 2012 I was in at 9 o’clock and was met by Caroline another receptionist, she told me to go straight down to the coffee shop until 10 o’clock as I was going up to the spa rooms upstairs. I did the same work as yesterday just made sure there wasn’t any breakfast left on the table. At ten o’clock I went up to nicki in the spa rooms she showed me around and got me to clean the tanning room. I enjoyed looking around its so nice inside and looks really neat and tidy. The main products that are used there are ógra which is an Irish product made from peat and the handmade soap company which is a brand located in kells. I left at half 3 and enjoyed the day.

10. 7th of October 2012 Today I was met by Mary she was working in the Headfort for 11 years, she was one of the other receptionists there. I went down at 9 o’clock to the coffee shop until 10 then I went up to Nicki in the spa rooms she got me to go around the lounge and coffee shop putting down leaflets on all the tables and bathrooms she then got me to put then in all the rooms in the hotel. I was then called down to reception to do a fire check around the hotel, Nightclub and Kenlis suite. I went back up to Nicki and she asked me to print out the leaflets again and cut them out. I then went down to the laundry rooms to get towels for the beds in the spa rooms. I really enjoyed this experience and meeting new people. Coffee shop ‘cafe Therese’

11. Conclusion. For this type of work you need good communication skills and hygiene as your working with people mostly. I enjoyed this work experience as everyone was really nice and I got on well with my tasks I didn’t have any negativities about the types of work I was doing. I enjoyed helping people that came in. I was able to handle everything well as I got use to it but there was a lot of pressure at times with a lot of people coming in. I enjoyed it and would consider it in the future.
