  2. What is the constructivism? • Constructivism is a broad movement, which is as much philosophical position as an educational strategy. Broad: general.

  3. PRINCIPLES OF CONSTRUCTIVIST TEACHING • In education, learners actually construct knowledge for themselves, rather than knowledge comes from the teacher and is ‘absorbed’ by the pupil. Absorb : take in and understand fully ( information or ideas)

  4. There are some results of being active of pupils for constructivism.

  5. Learning is always an active process.(Beyer,1985) • Learning is a search for meaning for constructivism. • The construction of knowledge is not just an individual thing. • Learning is always contextualized.(Schunk,2000) Contextualize: place or study in context.

  6. Teaching is about empowering the learner, and allowing the learner to discover and reflect on realistic experiences.(Von Glasersfeld,1989) Empower: give (someone) the authority or power to do something Discover: become aware of (a fact or situation)

  7. CONSTRUCTIVISM IN PRACTICE • Constructivist authors have developed many teaching strategies.

  8. 1- Connecting new ideas to prior knowledge. • 2- Modelling. • 3-Scaffolding. • 4-Coaching. • 5-Reflection. • 6-Collaboration. • 7-Exploration and problem-solving activities. • 8-Choices and options. • 9-Adaptive. • 10-Flexibility.

  9. The Structure of Constructivist Lesson 1-Start phase. 2-Exploration phase. 3-Reflection base. 4-Application and discussion phase.

  10. Summary Constructivism is a teaching philosophy has made strong teachers and teacher educators in recent decades. It is based on that pupils should be active in education process. It also helps teachers by giving some strategies,and ıt explains how should be a constructivist lesson step by step.
