Comparative Analysis of Sporulation Intensity in S. erythraea Strains on ABSM4 and R5 Media

This study examines the differences in sporulation intensity between two strains of Saccharopolyspora erythraea, ABE1441 and NRRL23338 WT, when cultured on ABSM4 and R5 agar media. Using the experimental setup described by Kieser et al. (2000), the ABE1441 strain is plated on the upper half and the NRRL23338 WT strain on the lower half of both media plates, allowing for a direct comparison of sporulation outcomes. The results provide insights into the effects of different growth conditions on the sporulation capabilities of these strains.
